Turmeric Tea (Golden Milk)
Golden-yellow turmeric, and specifically the compounds in it called curcuminoids, is an absolute powerhouse of a nutritional supplement. It has been used medicinally and in cooking for thousands of years, and much recent clinical research has shown its tremendous healing properties. The active component, curcumin, has very powerful anti-inflammatory effects, and also acts as a potent antioxidant. So, any time you are making something that could benefit from turmeric’s warm, sweet taste, be sure to add a teaspoon or two! Savory dishes work well, since black pepper enhances absorption by 2000%, through the action of the compound piperine.
This is a general guidelines recipe for Turmeric Tea, you can add and change ingredients and amounts to your liking. The important parts are turmeric and black pepper! You can use the whole spice, or the ground spice, or even the fresh root if it’s available. You will strain the mixture after boiling it, so if you have fresh ginger root and turmeric available, please use it!
