Dr. Sara’s Genius Bar: Top 4 Podcasts in Health
Still trying to get through that stack of self-help books you have sitting on your nightstand? In today’s article, Dr. Sara Gottfried shares her favorite free health podcasts by Dr. Jack Kruse, Abel James, Chris Kresser and Pedram Shojai.
While there’s nothing better than a good read, soaking up the latest and greatest research on health and wellness doesn’t always have to involve thumbing through another paperback.
Another great way to stay in the know? Podcasts, of course.
I love podcasts because they’re portable, plentiful and an easy way to get informed. There’s no shortage of good ones, but you may be wondering where to start if you’re ready to up your health game and you want to hear from the experts.
Here are four of my favorite podcasts – give them a listen and I promise you’ll learn a thing or two:
Dr. Jack Kruse:
One of the fathers of the “paleosphere,” Dr. Jack Kruse is a neurosurgeon and the CEO of Optimized Life, a health and wellness company. In his podcasts, Dr. Kruse covers everything from heart health and hormone balance to meditation and biohacking. Considered an “outside-the-box” thinker, he’s a respected MD who’s leading the conversation about some of the more unconventional ways to address total body health (I love it!).

Abel James:
He’s known around the Internet as “The Fat Burning Man,” and his podcast bumped Jillian Michaels’ from the No. 1 spot. Need I say more? Abel has an amazing personal story of health transformation. He interviews experts in the fields of functional medicine, nutrition and fitness, making it a well-rounded show overall. (You might even see an interview with me in his podcast archives!).

Chris Kresser:
A fellow Berkeley free-thinker, Chris is a licensed acupuncturist and an integrative medicine practitioner.
He has two great podcasts: The first is called Revolution Health Radio, where he “debunks mainstream myths on nutrition and health;” the second is called Ask the RD,where two of Chris’ staff nutritionists answer specific questions about ancestral and paleo nutrition.

The best part about most of these podcasts is they’re free. Listen, learn and let me know what you think.
