Vitality: Hormonal, Nutritional, Sexual + Lifestyle Tweaks

I became an integrative physician when I found mainstream medicine failed to address the #1 issue my patients struggle with: decreased desire. I went rogue but not in a Sarah Palin way… more of a Dr. Christiane Northrup meets Dr. Andy Weil way. There are many reasons for low sex drive which goes hand in hand with low vitality pretty much across the board: too much stress hormones, waning thyroid function, estrogen dominance or not enough, stuck patterns in relationships, boring sex, nutrient-poor food.

Thought I’d share (above) a recent dialogue with Nicole Daedone — the unofficial leader of the Slow Sex Movement and founder of Orgasmic Meditation — about stress and what you can do about it.

Root Cause Analysis: My mission in Life

I describe in this video my mission in life: to uncover the root cause of your low vitality. Is it your adrenal glands are maxed out from pumping out too much cortisol? Is it estrogen – either too high or too low? Is it your thyroid is wonky? Is your testosterone low? Is it that your relationship needs clearing? Is your sex life just too darn boring?

I’d add 0.75 to 1.0 gram of protein/pound of lean body mass in women. For me at 125 pounds, that’s about 100 grams of protein per day. That’s the dose that best supports my hormone production, particularly my cute little adrenals.
